Manual Lymphatic Drainage refers to decluttering the lymph system. The lymph system is housed in the myofascia. Myofascia is a thin web-like structure that sits in between everything superficially within the human body. Think of it as a web-like sponge of tissue that connects your skin to your ligaments + muscles to your bones. The more hydrated you are, the easier lymph can move through the myofascia. Lymph is a viscous liquid that carries toxins out of the body through the Lymph Nodes. During a manual lymphatic drainage, light repetitive pumping movements are administered over parts of the body that have experienced trauma. The lymph nodes will be stimulated with light repetitive pumping movements which are located in the armpits, clavicle, under the jaw, behind the knee + groin area.
